The band also used rich harmonies to embellish their hard edge. Greatest Hits shows that Journey knew how to craft a pop song with memorable tunes like "Anyway You Want It" and "Don't Stop Believin'." "Wheel in the Sky" was one of the band's more arty singles, while "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" relied on a straight four-bar blues pattern, with Perry's vocals at their best. The band's power ballads gave them their biggest success, and are rightfully represented here: "Faithfully," "Open Arms," and "Send Her My Love." Another unlikely aspect further secured the band's success--you could actually dance to some of their stuff, especially "Anyway You Want It." --Steve Gdula Journey's Greatest Here it is, one of the biggest rock bands of the 80s Greatest Hits. Loaded with 15 great tracks (don't look for anything new here like on some greatest hits albums), each one a classic in its own right. With the untimely death of Steve Perry, you will be hard pressed to find a collection of rock this good by one band. While Journey still tours to this day, you will not truly hear them unless you get this album. A must have for any fan of rock or 80s music. Hey Everybody, We're All Gonna Get Laid! "Any way you want it" will always be remembered in Rodney's immortal words from Caddyshack. Rock on. Nothing But The Best! After buying the Greatest Hits compilation around 5 years ago I was very impressed. Every song on this CD is great!! Its so hard to narrow down a particular favorite. With Steve Perry's soulful voice and john cain's extraordinary song writing Journey became one of the most successful bands of all time. No wonder they have received a hollywood star. With nearly 80 million records sold, and now there greatest hits has sold 14 million copies!!! They are simply unstoppable!

Now all we need is the original lineup with Steve Perry and man would the arenas be selling out fast!

Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO)
Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO)
Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO) Artist: Led Zeppelin (Usually ships in 24 hours) Also known as the "rune" album or Zoso because of the medieval symbols adorning the inner sleeve, Led Zeppelin's fourth album, released in 1971, turned them from mere superstars into giant behemoths of the rock world. On tracks like "Black Dog," "Misty Mountain Hop," and "Rock and Roll," the combination of Robert Plant's banshee wails and Jimmy Page's frenetic guitar playing forever altered the stylistic bent of hard rock music. And the foreboding "When the Levee Breaks" demonstrated that Zeppelin could indeed play the blues fairly straight if they so desired. Still, everything here ultimately took a back seat to the album's (and, ultimately, the band's) magnum opus--the expertly constructed and deftly executed classic, "Stairway to Heaven." --Billy Altman WELL DESERVED PRAISE FOR A GREAT BAND No amount of superlatives will be enough to describe the greatness of the greatest heavy metal band.Their fourth album or ZOSO as it is called is their best,so buy it.RECOMMENDED. Excessive praise for a generally mediocre band I've never understood why this band gets praised to high heaven. I first tried to get into this band in 1986 and since then I think I've heard this album over 100 times. And it all those listenings I still can't discern any particularly strong melodies. The album has some good moments I'll admit, the intro to Stairway is relaxed and quite pretty, Going To California has some similar qualites. But Black Dog has always annoyed more than anything else. For all Page's attempt to create a "crazy" riff it just doesn't have much of a strong hook to me. Plant's whiny performance annoys too; "what peepil meean by dahhhn an ahhhtt" The disjointed stop start stop start" only further enhances the annoyance. Interestingly Plant has claimed this song helped create rap.

So with no strong melodies you have to look for things like riffs, guitar solos, "feeling" or whatever. Riffs? Well some people seem to love Rock And Roll but to me it seems a corny attempt at a 50s feel. Queens Tie Yor Mother Down is a better example of that kind of thing.
As for The Battle Of Evermore I've never thought much of this. It's overly repetitve and although it attempts some melody, it really isn't much to write home about. The spiky mandolin gets grating after awhile.

We have two genuine stinkers in Misty Moutain Hop and Four Sticks. Honestly Misty Mountian Hop deserves a place in the Top 10 Worst Songs Ever Recorded. A truly moronic riff repeated for 5 minutues with Plant at his worst. And it's out of tune in places.

As for "feeling" we have better luck. When The Levee Breaks displays some spark, but displays a common Zeppelin fault- it's too long. The impact is lessened somewhat by the droning effect that just drags on for too long.

There are some decent guitar solos here, but Page is famous (or infamous) for his sloppy style of playing. In fact Page wasn't even the best guitar player of the era, let alone of all time. (Ritchie Blackmore most definitely has the edge over Page). With so many great guitarists having appeared since, much of Page's playing has lost some of it's shine.

So overall I think this abum has some good moments, but also a lot of mediocre moments too. (and some outright bad momets too) The simple fact is that Led Zeppelin were never musical *geniuses* as such. They had some talent for sure, but the word "Gods" when applied to Led Zeppelin just makes me laugh. Oh and Led Zep never "invented" heavy metal or hard rock either. They are just a link in a chain; Tbe old blues-The Kinks-The Who-The Yardbirds-Hendrix-Cream-Jeff Beck-Led Zeppelin- Black Sabbath- Van Halen and beyond. Even The Beatles developed hard rock to an extent. Apart from people overrating their talent they overrate their originality too. INCREDIBLE Led Zeppelin's fourth album is one of the greatest albums ever made by any band and is so good that it features in the rolling stones list of the best albums of all time.THIS IS A MUST HAVE IN EVERY COLLECTION.GET IT.

Hypnotize
Hypnotize
Hypnotize Artist: System of a Down (Usually ships in 24 hours) Closing out the second half of 2005 just as its predecessor iMesmerize closed out the first, Hypnotize completes System of a Down's finest hour to date. The two albums form a lean and nearly perfect whole that places this Los Angeles collective in league with the likes of Smashing Pumpkins and Pink Floyd. System has created an enduring body of work that challenges conventional notions about the nature of the contemporary rock album. More practically, they have given listeners a fine second act that attacks and attacks hard, inspiring as much headbanging as vintage Metallica and as thought-provoking as the Minutemen and the Dead Kennedys. (Vocalist Serj Tankian's barbaric yawp sometimes calls to mind head Kennedy Jello Biafra.)
The album's first half features the most brutal, perfect and direct rock n' roll that's come down the old mainstream this year: "Attack," "Kill Rock n' Roll," "Tentative" and "U-Fig" lead the charge while "Holy Mountains" gracefully moves us toward this epic's final challenging moments. Latter tracks such as "She's Like Heroin" (Frank Zappa's idea of The Three Penny Opera) and "Lonely Day" fail to maintain the intensity heard early on but not don't prevent Mesmerize and Hypnotize from coming together as one of the most definitive heavy rock albums of the decade. --Jedd Beaudoin What most rock bands today should be trying to achieve -I personally haven't listened to a whole lot of System of a Down, but I enjoy listening to them. However, on some subjects I have mixed feelings. SOAD can create some meaningful and powerful music, but I also feel that sometimes they're just trying to fill some song slots on their albums. SOAD can makes some songs with difficult solos and many riffs, but they also take the easy way out sometimes as well. I think they're doing a pretty good job with their music, but I honestly think they sound much better with no agrivating screaming. I have a different opinion of each song on the album as follows:
Attack: 7.5/10
-Has some good points in it about war, but the tempo gets on my nerves after a while.
Dreaming: 2.5/10
-I still have absolutely no idea what this song is about. It starts talking about all the negatives of our generation, yet the bridge starts randomly talking about a troubled girl? Not to mention the verse with blending vocals is like nails on a chalk board.
Kill Rock and Roll:7.5/10
-A pretty good song, but I think the intro is a little too dramatic. The first time I heard it I thought it was going to be a sad song, but apparently not.
Hypnotize: 9.5/10
-Great song about propaganda and corporations in our country. It's a really well-done song, but I was a little dissapointed that the hard part in the ending is so short.
Stealing Society: 8/10
-I found Serj's vocals really soothing in the beginning, but I think Daron kind of interrupted that state of mind I was in.
Tentative: 6.5/10
-I found the verses really annoying with Serj using some type of odd accent in his voice. Although I think the slow chorus does leave an impact on you, the difference between Tentative and Soldier Side is that Soldier Side is a magnificant build-up while Tentative remains where it is.
U-Fig: 1/10
-I thought this track was like someone poking you with a sharp knife in the back over and over again until the words "Melt in the sun, hide in the sky, beat em', and eat em'" are engraved into your mind for the rest of your life.
Holy Mountains: 6/10
-I think this song really could've gone places if it were a bit different. The fast beat heard in this track that really caught my attention is rarely ever played and is replaced with ridiculously repetitive screaming at the end of every other sentence. Liar! Killer! Demon!
Viscinity of Obscenity: 8.5/10
It took me a few times to get into this song, but it does have a nice pace with "different" lyrics.
She's Like Heroin: 8/10
-A catchy tune, but I don't think it's a track that SOAD will mostly be remembered for. SOAD do serious songs with a special finesse unlike any other and that's what I think they should stick to.
Lonely Day: 9/10
-This song does a good job of showing off Daron's guitar skills with his solo and his vocals as well. I don't understand why some people say this song is overrated. If it's great music, I'm sure it won't turn up as old to anyone.
Soldier Side: 10/10
-A masterpiece. Probably the best song on the entire album. It starts out slow and gains speed to the end. I can't describe it any better other than "amazing."

-Definitely pick this album up. It has some positives and some negatives, but it is well worth your while to go and check it out.
-4/5 SYSTEM OF A DOWN IS BETTER THAN YOU MR. KAY! I can not even begin to beleave how you could have the nerv to talk shiz about system of a down! I couldnt even read all of your review just because of the first sentence! System of a down is one of the best bands out there, so if your going to talk trash about them, do it in your own time where fans like me and lots of other NORMAL people who love soad dont have to see it.
Best songs: Kill rock 'n roll, She's like heroin, Soldier side and Hypnotize..everything else is very "Meh".

Worst song: Dreaming.

Daron sings alot more in this album, while and his voice is good, but serj's is just better. Cept when seen live, thats where Daron rules the roost.

All World: Greatest Hits
All World: Greatest Hits
All World: Greatest Hits Artist: Ll Cool J (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information The very epitome of "been there, done that," LL Cool J also has the distinction of having originated (or, at least, being the most proficient at) half a dozen rap styles. On the hits collection All World, all the phases are represented: he was "hard as hell" on 1986's "Rock the Bells" and again on 1991's "Mama Said Knock You Out"; on 1987's "I Need Love," he was the painfully sappy precursor to Boyz II Men, but he had the formula down pat for 1990's "Around the Way Girl" (and then he went sappy again on 1995's "Hey Lover," a collaboration with the Boyz); and 1988's "Going Back to Cali" found him stylin'. He's had his ups and downs and managed to produce only a couple of truly killer albums, but LL's first dozen years show that he's left his stamp on nearly every facet of the hip-hop world. --Randy Silver For all hip hop fans! If only "Phenomenon" would've been included in this great list of songs! That's the one that's missing here to completely make this the perfect CD. LL COOL J is definitely in a league of his own. He can't be compared to anyone else even though he is a rapper and he's in a lot of company and his sound is unique.

Since the beginning L.L. said he was the best and although he's had tracks that didn't satisfy everyone, all of his tracks satisfied someone. L.L. has yelled, whispered, talked, and laughed on albums, something only half the rappers out there wish they could get away with. This album says a lot but in my opinion, it's only part of the story. Like I mention earlier there are a lot more forgotten hits on his albums and singles. (Check out G.O.A.T) There are a lot of great artist out there, and L.L. is definitely one of them. And still going strong (Talk about longevity).

Not only does this CD bring back childhood memories for me, but it's one of the best hip hop albums out there. Buy this, you'll love it. Every hip hop fan should own this if they haven't already.
And your top 5 rappers are who It's funny how so many people put together these top 5 of all time lists and LL Cool J isn't in there. There can't be a top 5 because there is plenty of rappers like LL who don't get credit where credit is do. This album is a well put together greatest hits. If you don't know much about LL then this album will help you get started in buying all of his great albums. LL's lyrics were way beyond his time and for a 16 year old kid to be so lyrically sick seems unbelievable. The production definitely matches LL's talent and it makes this album amazing. No skip album are the best words for this and hip hop fans know when they hear those words the album is perfect. This is a perfect album to pay respect to one of hip hops living legends. if you listen to this I'm sure you'll change your mind about who your top 5 of all time are. LL COOL J IS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME USUALLY WHEN THE BEST RAPPERS COME MIND, I THINK OF JAY Z OR NAS.....BUT THE OTHER DAY, I RAN INTO THIS CD AND I WAS LIKE, WAIT A MIN. LL COOL J IS ONE OF THE HARDEST WORKERS IN THE RAP INDUSTRY....HES BEEN AROUND FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS GIVING PEOPLE GREAT MUSIC TO LISTEN TOO AND THE GREATEST THING IS THAT HE COULD RAP AND MAKE RB ON HIS ALBUMS WHICH NO RAPPER DOES THEN AND DEFINATELY NOW.....IF YOU WANT HARDCORE RAP TO LISTEN TO, YOU GOT (RETURN OF JACK THE RIPPER) , IF YOU WANT RB, YOU GOT LOUNGIN (REMIX)............I THINK HE SHOULD RECIEVE SOME KIND OF LIFETIME ACHIEVMENT AWARD IF HE HASNT ALREADY.....WELL BEFORE I GO, HERES MY OWN (BEST OF LL COOL J) CD IF ANYONE WANTS TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER ON ONE CD.......ITS GREAT FROM BEGINING TO END

1. - (INTRO) FROM THE G.O.A.T. What is remarkable is that the material has aged very well and that most of the original cast have made the trip to the silver screen. This is no small feat since nearly ten years have elapsed since the show's Off-Broadway debut and the film's release. When it opened in 1996, Jonathan Larson's rock musical based on neobohemian life in the gritty East Village felt a bit hackneyed at times; now, Rent feels more like a Broadway fantasy about life on the edge, and that new element actually works in the show's favor. The two cast additions--Rosario Dawson (replacing Daphne Rubin-Vega as Mimi) and Tracie Thomas (replacing Fredi Walker as Joanne)--act well and with emotion, but aren't quite powerful enough. They are eclipsed by vets such as Anthony Rapp, Idina Menzel, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, and Taye Diggs, who of course had the chance to perfect their roles on stage and can also be heard on the original cast recording. It's a pleasure to hear these stalwarts New York performers strut their stuff again. This soundtrack will please the show's fans, and probably attract new ones. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Pa'L Mundo
Pa'L Mundo
Pa'L Mundo Artist: Wisin Yandel (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information Da Hottest Of Da Hottest Reggaeton CD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Contains some of the best songs of 2005! Most NOW compilations are hit and miss affairs (more often miss than hit), but NOW 19 has the distinction of having four of the best songs of 2005, regardless of your taste in music. Obviously, "Hollaback Girl" was unavoidable in 2005, and it had the added benefit of teaching everyone how to spell "Bananas." The second song of note was "1 Thing" by Amerie. Rich Harrison sampled the most amazing drum break of the year from The Meters and it elevated this song above so much other RB. John Legend's "Ordinary People" was excellent in its simple piano and real life lyrics about relationships. And finally, the song of the year, whether you're tired of it or not, had to be "Feel Good, Inc." by the Gorillaz. It combined so many different elements into absolute musical perfection. These four songs, plus a few good others, make NOW 19 an essential purchase for anyone trying to feel the pulse of music in 2005. If you're planning on buying this for Hollaback Girl, be warned! (I don't normally go for short reviews, but not a lot needs to be said here.)

Working in a record store, I have the luxury of being able to hear all kinds of music, from all kinds of different genres. This is an excellent thing, in that it enables me to broaden my musical horizons. One day, we listened to this CD. These Now CDs usually have nothing but the worst popular music around. But after looking at the tracklist, I saw that Hollaback Girl was on the CD. Ah, some redeeming value.

Not quite.

Hollaback Girl is the EDITED version. NOWHERE ON THE PACKAGING IS THIS STATED.

My point here is simple. If you're thinking about buying this CD for that one song, DON'T! The fact that all the other songs (with the exception of Will Smith's composition) suck doesn't help things either. This whole "alteration with no disclaimer" thing has to end.

Final verdict? Steer clear.

Run-D.M.C. - Greatest Hits
Run-D.M.C. - Greatest Hits
Run-D.M.C. - Greatest Hits Artist: Run-D.M.C. (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information Is Run-DMC the most important group of the past 25 years? Well, if you believe that the rise of hip-hop is the most significant musical development in a quarter century, what other conclusion can you draw? Though they may not have been responsible for the birth of rap, the Hollis, Queens, trio represents the genre's coming of age. They were the ones who brought what was largely a regional street phenomenon to the masses. The rhymes, the beats, the style, the attitude--Run-DMC introduced it all to the world. Focusing mostly on the group's first three albums--each of them a cornerstone of rap music--this 18-track collection is a reminder of a time when rap enjoyed a kind of childlike innocence: their boasts are forceful but not angry; the beats are simple but exciting; the overall effect (fueled by heavy-metal riffs) is edgy and aggressive, but not violent or destructive. But most of all, it's fun. In the 1990s, rap artists would take Run-DMC's ideas to wide extremes, but the roots of this next generation--gangsta rap's street realism, political rap's social agendas, rock-rap's antagonism--are found right here. Run-DMC--like almost all pioneers from Elvis to Louis Armstrong--suffered a period of irrelevancy when they were looked upon as quaint or outdated, but, their time will come. Rest assured, this is not '80s retro kitsch. --Marc Greilsamer Overrated Rap Group This is another case of a rap group gaining fame because the media made them their darlings. If you listen to this album it really is just plain mediocre. The songs are very weak and the lyrics are lame. They piggybacked off the success of Aerosmith and are really overrated. THE BEST OF THE BEST RAP GROUP TO EVER SPIT LYRICS. Run-DMC was a dynasty. PERIOD. They are the greatest rap group to ever rhyme, rap, oor however you want to put it. The combination of Rev Run, with partner MC, DMC, and then ofcourse there's who is probably the greatest DJ ever, Jam Master Jay. So much you can say about these guys so little space.

First I would just like to announce that JMJ died in 2002, so the group split and Run has continued to do his own thing, hitting off his solo debut "Distortion", including the hit "Mind On The Road".

The best song on the album is "Walk This Way", with another PERIOD. That was the song that put rap on the map, great beat, done with rock sensation Aerosmith.

My Top 5
5. "King Of Rock"
4. "My Adidas"
3. "Run's House"
2. "It's Tricky"
1. "Walk This Way"

Must pick this one up, even if you've never heard them it's a safe bet, if you like rap and hip-hop, if not, you shouldn't be here anyway. Speaking of not being hear, I'm out.

PIRATE Best CD Ever Made In The Whole Widest Universe By- David DeMola.....note i used the kid review form because i dont have an account.

I like all kinds of music but this is a great rap group because the beats make you wanna bob your head and keep breakdancing with the melodic raps and and crazy azz punchlines. without this kind of oldskool hip-hop, modern hip-hop would have never evolved therefore you should get into them and listen to the roots of hip-hop.
-L@TER

Songs in the Key of Life
Songs in the Key of Life
Songs in the Key of Life Artist: Stevie Wonder (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information Songs in the Key of Life (1976) was the highest high point of Stevie Wonder's career. More sprawling than Innervisions and Talking Book, this two-LP-plus-EP was also less of a consistent stunner than either of those masterworks. That Songs retains an enormous amount of visionary relevance, though, is demonstrated not only in Coolio's borrowing of "Pastime Paradise" as a template for "Gangsta's Paradise," but in the cold-as-ice synthesized string quartet of "Village Ghetto Land." This is Stevie, so naturally that cut's anger is balanced by the ultra-buoyant "I Wish," "Sir Duke," and "Another Star." The 2000 reissue boasts radically improved remastered sound. --Rickey Wright All-Time Great Stevie Wonder was and continues to be a once every few generations kind of genius!!!

There's not enough words in the English language to appropriately articulate how GREAT he is as a musician and how OUT OF THIS WORLD "Songs in the Key of Life" remains.

--Best RB album ever made in history
--Best soul album ever made in history
--Best double-disc album set ever made in history
***Strong candidate for one of the greatest albums ever made by any artist, anywhere, anytime and any place in history

If you're black, white, Puerto Rican or Asian, young, old, straight, gay, religious, secular, a music lover, music hater or just plain music deprived, this album's for you!!!!

Can't say enough.

Deserving of 10 stars!!!

I'd put this album up there against any of the best of Michael Jackson, James Brown, Whitney Houston, the Beatles, the Temptations, Prince, Little Richard, Louis Armstrong, MaDonna, Boyz II Men, Elvis, U2, the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley or ANY of the other all-time greats I might've missed.

Even better than "Innervisions" for those Stevie Wonder diehards. Slow start, but great after that. First I'd like to say that, though I love this album, it takes too long for it to really get started. Love's In Need of Love Today is OK but too long, Have a Talk With God and Village Ghetto Land both suffer from bad arrangements, and Contution is just average.
But once it gets started, it just keeps gaining momentum and rarely lets up. From the big-band swing of Sir Duke to the funky I Wish to ballad Knocks Me Off My Feet to Eastern-influenced (!) Pastime Paradise, the first disc of this album has a lot going for it.
And the second half is even better. Besides containing the hit Isn't She Lovely, we also get a couple fine tracks with Joy Inside My Tears, I Am Singing and If It's Magic, it also features the best fifteen minutes in the man's discography--the lineup of As and Another Star, the former a fine ballad encouraging universal love (one of Wonder's favorite themes) and the latter, arguably the most ambitious tune the man cut, ever. In its eight-and-a-half minutes, it jumps from horn-driven soul to African-ish to jazzy, complete with a tasty flute solo.
Thankfully, that ain't all. The bonus EP features four great cuts. Definetly the best, most eclectic album in Stevie's catalogue. Classic Stevie It doesn't get much better than this. If you're a Stevie fan, you absolutely must have this one in your collection. This cd represents what music should be!

Kottonmouth Kings - Endless Highway
Kottonmouth Kings - Endless Highway
Kottonmouth Kings - Endless Highway Manufacturer: Suburban Noize (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information ok but sound is crap i had to give it 4 stars cus the sound on this dvd is really low the footage and other stuff on the dvd is cool there fans are just like juggalos i hoping to see more nude chicks anyway buy this dvd its pretty good KMK-Endless Highway I have all 3 DVD's Dopeumentry,Stoner's reeking Havoc Endless Highway. I like them all , but i'd have to say that Endless Highway is my favorite. It's the one I keep put away, i've allready had 2 other copy's walk out the door.
The difference between the 3 i'd say is that this one has a little less stage footage, replaced by tour bus Motocross footage.
*Supporting Radical Habbits...today,tomorrow yesterday
sdsungrl69

12 Songs
12 Songs
12 Songs Artist: Neil Diamond (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information Forget for a moment that you're a sophisticated consumer of music with a mercilessly low tolerance for schlock: Neil Diamond--"Cracklin' Rosie" and "Forever in Blue Jeans" be damned--is going to break your heart. 12 Songs, the hotly anticipated collaboration between Rick Rubin and the formerly jumpsuited Don Juan, exceeds all hopped-up expectations, deflating fans' concerns that their hero might fall flat on the frames of his huge sunglasses in attempting to turn out something hip and harnessing what sounds like decades' worth of untapped, superior songcraft instead. There it is on "Captain of a Shipwreck," a declaration of love that skims the poetic with its promise that "If you're captain of a shipwreck/I'll be first mate to your shame," and around it comes again on "Hell Yeah," a life-affirming, rumor-debunking anthem fairly bursting with bravado (think "I Am...I Said," but with context). Bravado aside, expect no pulled punches here. Rubin's masterful approach is to let Neil Diamond do what Neil Diamond does best, and that is to strap on a loose guitar and let those teflon-ravaged vocals ride over it. Some rides, of course, are smoother than others--Brian Wilson's guest spot on bonus track "Delirious Love" is so melodic and harmony-rich it ought to have sails attached, while "What's It Gonna Be" sounds like something snatched in a pre-dawn lark from a Leonard Cohen disc. All of it is lovely, every last track. A respectful rescripting of the legend, a la the Rubin-aided recasting of Johnny Cash after 2002's American Recordings, is in order. --Tammy La Gorce So Good! I have loved every second of this CD. I grew up with Neil Diamond on the radio, and though his music has a certain sentimental connection with my childhood, I was never into the "lounge" sound. This CD is nothing like that. It is everything that is good about Neil Diamond - lots of which I'd never recognized. What a voice! What a song-writer! My only disappointment was that, the day I received it, I found there is another version with two bonus tracks, and I want it!

I can't recommend this highly enough. It is GOOD. Unexpected Surprise I've never been a Neil Diamond fan. Probably never will be. I've always felt he was to much of a showman and to little of a songwriter. Granted, he written some fine songs. Bust I mostly preferred Neil Diamond done by other artists. Listen to Sweet Caroline by Bobby Womack or Solitary Man by Chris Isaak. You'll get the picture.

The main reason I've picked up this album was Rick Rubin. The man performed a miracle in reviving the career of one Johnny Cash. I was just really curious how he would pull this one off. To my amazement he succeeded.

The first listen was awkward. The production really resembles the work on the Cash albums. Sober is almost an understatement. So Diamond's voice seemed a bit of. Took me half an album to get used to it. What strikes then is the quality of the songwriting and the sincerity of his singing. The themes of the songs are dark and brooding. Never easy love affairs, no easy answers to life's questions. Just the betrayal in I'm on to You or confrontation in Face Me. Even the more lightweight songs carry a shade of disappointing experiences and trouble. In Delirious Love Diamond sounds like he has to make an effort to shake them of. Never really succeeding.

A fine effort. One that won't be leaving my cd-player any time soon.
Neil's Acoustical...and Great! I think this is one of his best! Just him, his guitar, and his newly penned songs. Beautifully produced! I got it for my wife, whose a big Neil Diamond fan, and she just listens to it over and over again. I even put two of my favorite songs from the album on my very selective MP3 Player (Tapwave Zodiac2), "Delirious Love" and "What's it Gonna be." This is a definite buy for any Neil Diamond fan.

The World Before It Ever Was
The World Before It Ever Was
The World Before It Ever Was Artist: marlow (This item is currently not available.)
